Perfect Dress for the Perfect Picture for a Night that is...Perfect

Yes it's that time of year again where the race is on to spend large amounts of money for a single night of fun. Prom. Similar to that of Black Friday but over the course of a month, clothing and department stores rack up tuxedos and dresses for the special night However, the traditional dress and the suit aren't the only aspects of Prom.

Movies have played to this high school phenomenon of the perfect night, and the preparation that goes into it is ever so more tedious. The audience is seeing the common panning down view of the 'Prom To Do List' where the bullet point never seem to end: the dress the date, the shoes, the hair, the makeup, the limo, the dinner reservation, the select group of friends, the location where everyone gets ready, and etc. Given that it is movies, the night ends up as hoped: perfect, which leaves people believing this to be the standard (https://www.seventeen.com/prom-dresses/) .
Even more currently, Youtubers have jumped on the bandwagon by catering their videos to whatever is happening in the lives of their audience, teens. The largest categories of this are Back to School, Homecoming, Prom, and Summer. Just like with the movies, most videos are of the "Get Ready for Prom" or "Back to School Haul" where the entire concept is about spending money and influencing their audience to do the same. This is because companies will also sponsor Youtubers and influencers to use their products to promote them.
Macy's is one of the largest department stores who fully engulfs themselves into prom season. (https://www.macys.com/social/macys-gives/campaigns/prom/) Their recent campaign has advertised that purchasing a prom dress with Macy's will go towards another prom dress being donated to make the "prom dream" experience of others come true. It's a heart-felt concept behind the ideal justification for spending ridiculous amounts of money for a dress one time and never again.
