Location?....Notre Dame Cathedral

From the 1996 Disney blockbuster of The Hunchback of Notre Dame to now an international competition of designing architecture, the cathedral has used media publicity as means for restoration. All of which is a way they have tried to shed light on the recent tragedy of destruction.
Between April 15th and April 16th of 2019, a structural fire broke out and burnt down the spire and the roof. The odd part about its cause was how the fire alarm went off, but fire was found the first time. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/15/world/europe/notre-dame-fire-what-we-know.html

In merely the span of roughly one day, the overall structure of architecture dating back to the completion in1345 was gone. Ranked first on the "15 Best Things to Do in Paris"(https://travel.usnews.com/ Paris_France/Things_To_Do/), the physical memory make have been hindered, but the memory will not.

On that Tuesday night, France's president, Emmanuel Macron, called together the people of France to remember their nation's loss. It was despite the past month of street violence and protest that this seen unity brought light of hope (https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/16/world/ europe/notre-dame-fire-investigation.html). Now many have said that unity over this matter was purely an agenda piece in the overarching reputation of Emmanuel Macron, but it inspired a project that brought international connection of architects and designers.
The greatest piece that Notre Dame lost in the fire was its one and only spire, so France is hosting an international competition for people to design the spire specifically. Many creative ideas have been thrown around in ways of improving the cathedral while using the salvageable remains. Some include utilizing 3D printers with the ash to recreate parts of the cathedral like the gargoyles, using recyclable plastics for the roof, transforming the space of the roof as a greenhouse with planter boxes being made of the burnt wood, creating luxury apartments in the roof space, which would be called 'Quasimodo's Penthouse;' and many more ideas in the video on https://nowthisnews.com/videos/news/france-hosts-international-competition-to-redesign-notre-dame.
This means of drawing in a greater crowd by incorporating/considering the ideas of the public will only cause an increase in visitors to Paris specifically Notre Dame. It meets the needs of both sides were the public should be incorporated into the restoration of one of the world's prized locations as well as bringing in greater publicity for what many have considered old. People are constantly looking for the next big thing, so it is easy for them to overlook these historical sites when images of the location immediately pop up when googled. It's being able to tie in the media like with The Hunchback of Notre Dame that product placement (the product being Notre Dame) is crucial for keeping up in a technology run world.
